Reviews

Das Boot tells the real life story of German U boat U-96 as NAZI Germany began to lose the upper-hand of world war 2 in 1941. This is one of the best movies about WW2 that isn't from the perspective of the allies and is truly a gripping watch that gives some insight into the horrors of submarine "wolfpack" warfare, as well as the disconnection between the crews of these vessels and the upper NAZI ranks who sent U-96 on what was essentially a suicide run. A common place after the axis began to sense defeat.

The Original Un-cut version is nearly 4 hours long and I can honestly say it is worth every minute. The only reason I can think it was released as a 1.5 hour version was because of technology capabilities at the time or cinemas could not promote a 4 hour flick. If you can get your hands on the un-cut version get it. Highly recommended war film and easily one of the best of all time.
